In this world we think of “relationships” as those we have with other people. But in Truth, those relationships are outward demonstrations of the one we have with ourselves, and the one we have with Spirit. If one is in conflict they will all be in conflict.
As a coach and psychotherapist, this is a common topic people frequently talk to me about: they are unhappy with, or stressed over, or challenged by - a relationship. And I totally get it, because I have been in the situation where I view the cause of my upset as being a person with whom I am in relationship many times. Many times. Like, sometimes for years. Or decades. Lifetimes, really. Maybe even a century (that one was probably a past life from the Old Testament, when we lived for like 500 years.)
Relationships can be frustrating - it can feel like all of your buttons are being pushed at once, or that the other person is either trying to hurt you, is completely thoughtless, or deliberately misunderstanding you.
It can seem as though they have changed and don’t act like they used to, or they ignore you - or you feel disrespected by them, or that you can’t trust them, or like it’s hopeless –that they will never behave differently.
How can we see God In others (even when they treat us poorly)?
One of the concepts taught by A Course in Miracles is that we are all one being, an extension of God.
That means that is what EVERYONE is. No exceptions.
Every person with whom you are in relationship has 100% of God’s DNA (Divine Nature Always.)
So how do we do that? How do we see the God in people who are pissing us off?
My personal favorite depiction of God is Morgan Freeman in the film “Bruce Almighty”, who said “People want me to do everything for them, but they don’t realize they have the power. You want to see a miracle, son? Be the miracle.”
...we are going to learn the way to do exactly that, by exploring how to transform our perception of our relationships from one of fear – i.e. judgment, criticism, condemnation, disappointment, resentment, guilt - to one of love - aka peace, joy, lightness, humor and fun.
The objective of this course is to have the power.
